Part of the State Department’s November edition of their monthly release of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emails include a chain of emails that proves Clinton lied about the Benghazi terror attacks according to a report published by CNN on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015. On Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, the State Department released nearly 8,000 pages of Clinton’s emails, but among them are the few specifically related to the 2012 Benghazi, Libya attacks that have been at the heart of the House of Representatives Select Committee on Benghazi investigation into what Clinton really knew. The public finally gets to read themselves those key emails referred to during Clinton’s recent 11-hour testimony in front of the House Select Committee on Benghazi.
One of the emails released was from the night of the attack. Just afterwards, Clinton exchanged emails with daughter Chelsea, who “used the pseudonym “Diane Reynolds.” Clinton admitted “Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al Queda-like [sic] group.” Hillary continued, “Very hard day and I fear more of the same tomorrow.”
That night on Sept. 11, 2012, four Americans were killed at two separate attacks. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and Sean Smith, an information management officer were killed in the attack at the consulate, while CIA contractors Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed at a second attack later in the evening, where 10 others were injured.
Clinton’s statement as Secretary of State “condemning the attack,” made no mention that the attack was terrorism. Instead, Clinton wrote, “Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet.” The administration faced a backlash for over a week blaming the attack on an anti-Islam video on YouTube, the Innocence of Muslims related protest, and being slow to admit publicly the attack was terrorism. Clinton and the State Department were blamed for not responding and providing the extra security the consulate requested.
That email between Clinton and her daughter was the evidence the House committee used against Clinton during her 11-hour testimony Oct. 22. Rep. Jim Jordan, who grilledClinton about this during her testimony, pointed out, “You tell the American people one thing, you tell your family an entirely different story.” Continuing Jordan also said, “You can live with a protest about a video. That won’t hurt you. But a terrorist attack will, so you can’t be square with the American people. You tell your family it’s a terrorist attack, but not the American people.”
With the email release two-thirds complete and set to be done by January 2016, there are currently nearly 1,000 emails that the State Department have bumped up to classified, including two considered “top secret.” The government keeping is 1,000 emails from the public’s view, and maybe even protecting Clinton. The scandal with her private server has to do most of all with if Clinton risked national security. The FBI is still investigating whether Clinton did mishandle classified information. FBI Director James Comey is a stickler for the law, and while Democrats including President Barack Obama have downplayed the scandal, Comey could very well be Clinton’s downfall.
